FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Los Angeles—January 10, 2025. Newly created Ark Press announced its official launch with the acquisition of New York Times best-selling author Larry Correia, who will begin a new contemporary fantasy series scheduled for 2026.
In addition to Correia, Ark plans to publish twelve titles in 2026, including new work from crowdsource sensation Travis J. I. Corcoran.
The press will take a unique approach, adopting methods from both self-publishing and trade. According to editor-in-chief Tony Daniel, formerly senior editor at Regnery Books and Baen Books, “Ark will engage in initial crowdfunding projects for all our IP as a marketing strategy and a revenue channel.”
Ark plans to specialize in genre fiction—primarily science fiction and fantasy, but also political thrillers, alternate history, mystery, and historical novels with an emphasis on stories where humans triumph over adversity—alien, evil, or natural. Future blueprints include developing a “modern based” Hardy Boys mystery adventure YA series.
“You can think of us as having a human-centric based genre focus,” says Daniel. “We promise readers that in every Ark book, ‘The humans win in the end.’ That’s our official motto.”
Daniel adds that a major market thrust will be to reach the often-neglected Great American Male Reader. “We have a vision,” he says. “and very much intend to make a difference in the landscape of American fiction.”

So, Ark is looking for novels.
One, we need to get some biggish names, or new names with followings, because we can't really launch a press off the back of new writers. (edited)
Two, we are on the other hand open to new writers.
Three, per the press release above, we've got Larry signed up. We're working with some other names you'd recognize, either as writers or as influencers, but none of those are mss in hand.
Four, I believe Ark will publish a novel David West and I co-wrote (Hell on Wheels; it's kind of like what if Harry Dresden was a courier driving a haunted Pontiac GTO in the 1970s).
Now, there is a challenge level. Editor-in-chief Tony Daniel right now is convinced that the proposal model of non-fiction publishers should be followed by fiction publishers.

In other words, he doesn't want a query letter, he wants something significantly more fulsome.
Here's the current memo describing what he wants to see in a proposal (this memo will no doubt change over time).

I guess five, it may be worth saying that we're not a right-wing publisher. But we are not interested in the doctrines of wokeness. If you submit something discoursing on your intersectionalities, it will get ignored.
